“There is a proposed legislation on the horizon, and if it becomes law, it could drastically change the way insurance companies cover roofs that are more than 10 years old. Senate Bill 76 essentially says that if an old roof gets destroyed during a hurricane or as a result of natural forces, your insurance company could pay what your old roof is worth at the time instead of completely covering 100% of the cost of replacement.”
